RSS (Really Simple Syndication)

The concept behind RSS is that by installing a simple reader at your end you can keep up-to-date with additions to Computer Performance.  What RSS does is save you the hassle of returning to the site in order to find out if we have any pages for you.

At the client end, I use RSS Reader.  It's a cross between an email client such as Outlook 2003 and a newsreader like Outlook Express.  Your XP machine will probably have .Net Framework, but if it does not, then the people at RSS Reader will give you a link.

Once you have downloaded and installed your RSS Reader, just click on the green cross (Add) and type or copy and paste:   http://computerperformance.co.uk/rss.xml.

Installing and configuring RSS

When your feed arrives, right click, and select feed properties.  Now you are ready to configure options such as the frequency for 'Updates' and 'Store old headlines'.

RSS configure Feed Properties: frequency for 'Updates' and 'Store old headlines'.

If you don't like RSS Reader there are loads more programs, most like RSS Reader are free.  Talking of free, our jokes feed is free of charge.  The whole idea of Really Simple Syndication is that it's easy at our end and easy at your end, therefore there is no reason why it should not be a free service.
